Valentina under sail
2/1 We are going on our third month back in the States.   We have a brand new grand-daughter, Bailee Rae Sisson, born December 14th.   We are getting to hang out in their home and play (spoil) Bailee while mom  and dad are back at work.

We will depart the US for Panama City on March 6th and return to Valentina in Bocas del Toro, Panama to continue cruising.

2/2 This evening, we went to Ken and Karen Kruse's home (S/V Bear Necessity) for dinner.  They are our good friends from Lake Texoma.  We had not seen them since we had been back, and were so glad to see them.

Our heros, Ken and Karen Ten years ago, they cruised some of the same places and same anchorages as we are now, and it was great to share stories of the same places, just ten years later.  They remember the names of the islands much better than we do.

They are preparing Bear Necessity for some more cruising time in the near future.  Valentina would absolutely love to share an anchorage with them again.

2/6

Happy Birthday to our Daughter-in-Law, Kodi Sisson

You are such a good mother to our grand-daughters and a good wife to our son.  Thanks!

Enjoy the year ahead.

Kodi and Taylor

We are enjoying our family......we are at Gentry and Jennifer's house in Garland, Texas playing with Bailee.   She is a good baby, 7 weeks old now, but smiles a lot, and, of course, very cute.

2/7 This morning, we went to Waxahachie to spend the day and night with our daughter, Stacie and family.   We went to the park and grilled hot dogs, but it was very windy.

We came back to the house and played Jenga.  It was fun and exciting.  Claire was very good at this game.
It's Billy's turn.... Claire is the winner... Stacie carefully taking her turn...

2/8 We went to church this morning with Garrett, Madonna, and Kylie.  They go to The Oaks Fellowship Church, and we really like it.  This morning's sermon was on the Lord's Supper, and as a back drop, they had church members on stage, interacting with the sermon of a live Lord's Supper.

It is such a blessing to see such a difference in their lives.  The pastor is so creative in presenting the gospel.  The next series is on "Dirty Jobs"....from the television show.

We do miss services (in English) while we are away.

Happy 4th Birthday to our Grand-daughter

2/13
We spent another enjoyable evening with John and Lisa Hunt (S/V Morning Star).   They are planning on taking their boat from Lake Texoma to Kemah to get ready to go cruising.  We shared charts, maps, waypoints, and various other information we have collected during our cruising the NW Caribbean with them on a DVD.  A very exciting time in their lives.   They are currently having garage sales, scaling down, selling the house, and making plans to go cruising.   Brings back memories.

2/14 What a weekend and Happy Valentine's Day!

We planned to take our grandkids to climb Enchanted Rock near Fredricksburg, TX.   There is a cave you crawl through if you have a flashlight.  We had 7 of our 9, we were missing our oldest granddaughter and our youngest granddaughter.

So, we started this morning, drove 1 1/2 hours to the Texas/OK border and picked up Ashley and Kawika.  Then, we drove 2 1/2 hours to Waxahachie to pick up Claire, Chase, and Kylie.   Then we drove to Taylor and Kodi's  in Austin and spent the night with them and Riley and Shea.  The kids all had a fun time with a slumber party,  movie, and popcorn.

2/15  Early....early this morning, we heard the sounds of kids awake, so we all got up.   They were excited to go to Enchanted Rock.   They had all brought flashlights so they could go into the cave.

It was a 1 1/2 hour drive when we finally arrived at the huge granite mountain.   Kylie said, "We are going to climb to the top?"   It did look rather big.

Kodi had packed snacks and peanut butter sandwiches for when we reach the top.   The cave is also there, where everyone went through with their flashlights.   Grandma Kay stayed outside with Shea (1 year old) and her boxer puppy Lucy.  It took them 1 hour and 15 minutes to get through the cave, but....they had a blast.

Then. we climbed back down the mountain and loaded back in the car, and headed back to our homes.

We are Here! Taylor took this picture of all of us climbing up. Chase, Ashley, Claire, Kylie, and Kawika Shea, the youngest on the mountain
Getting ready to walk to the top! Sometimes, it is just a Kodak moment. Rylie, Kylie, and Kawika.....cousins. It is tougher than it looks....

It was a whole lot of driving, but a very good day with our grandkids.   Taylor and Kodi made the trip very special.

2/16 We are back in Garland babysitting our Bailee, now 2 months old.   She smiles and giggles and has just spoiled us.   ; )

Bailee loves her bath time.

2/18 Tonight, we went to Kay's sister-in-law's home in Rockwall to visit with Del and Lynda, and Kay's niece Kerri and her daughter Allison Paige and son, Avery.   It has been too long since we have seen them.                     Avery, Allison, and Kerri.....Kay's niece and her kids.                                Kay, Avery, Allison, Kerri, Lynda, and Del.
2/20
Sonny with Wayne and Hope Tonight, we went to meet with Wayne and Hope.   They are friends from Lake Texoma, who also plan to take their boat, Fields of Gold, to the coast this summer to go cruising.  See, we are not the only ones out there......we are in the midst of lots of good people.

2/22
We decided to make a quick trip today to Cedar Mills Marina.   So, we called Bill and Aleisha, S/V Celebration to see if they were at the lake.  Of course, it is the weekend.....they were there.  We had lunch together and got to see the projects they are completing on their boat.  They are in the process of getting Celebration ready to go cruising in the distant future.   They are still young and working hard.

Then, we called Ken and Karen on S/V Bear Necessity, and picked them up on our way and went together.   It is so good to spend time with them.  We sure miss them and enjoy our memories together.

I dislike this quoteTruly great friends are hard  to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget.

It was good to see our old marina, how some things have changed and some things always stay the same.

2/23

She should be named "Smiley" to go with Kylie and Riley.

        ♥   ♥   ♥   ♥

And, of course, we have to show you updates of our grandbaby that is spoiling us.

She is a sweetheart, and a good baby.  We told Gentry and Jennifer we could take her to the boat and they could make another one....just like her.

But....they want to keep her.

What a sweetheart!

2/24 We met Ron and Pam Horn this evening for dinner in Dallas.  We know our time is getting short here, and trying to make the most of it with friends and family.
2/27

Happy Birthday to our Grandson.....Kawika

Kawika is 7 years old.

2/28 Today is the last of the month, and it is time that our babysitting time with our new grand-daughter has come to an end.  I knew we would get attached to that little girl, but just didn't realize how hard it would be to leave after being with her for five weeks.   With tears in my eyes, and my heart so full of love......I am just so thankful that we were able to spend that special time with her and her parents.  She filled our hearts with joy and love....Just hope 'she' didn't spoil 'us' too much.

"Honey, I think she will fit in my carry-on bag on the airplane". Grandchildren steal your hearts. Special times...they grow up too fast. Sweet mom....sweet baby.
