Happy Holidays from Valentina

12/1

This morning we headed to the airport to catch Spirit airlines to go to Fort Lauderdale.  Our plane left a little late, and arrived a little late, which was just enough to cause us to miss our connection to Dallas.

So, we spent the night in the airport sleeping in the chairs, or....well, not sleeping.

Our Christmas Tree

12/2 After a long night, we were able to get on the 6 a.m. American flight to D/FW.  Garrett, our son, picked us up at the airport.  It is so good to be back in Texas, but so much has changed.

Grandpa surprised Claire for lunch

Today is our granddaughter, Claire's 12th birthday.  So, we went to eat lunch with her at her school on her special day.

Then, we went to our grandson, Chase's dental appointment, where they pulled two teeth.  Then it was time to pick up Kylie, another granddaughter, at school.

We have sure missed our five kids and 9 grandkids.  It is wonderful being back with them.  We have more to visit in Garland, TX, Austin, TX, and Ada, OK and are anxiously looking forward to seeing all of them.

12/3 We went around town trying to find a box to send our SSB radio back to Icom for repairs and then packed all the parts up and took the box to the Post Office.

We picked up kids after school and then went to Stacie's and spent the night with them.

12/4 It's Christmas-time in Waxahachie and time for the annual Christmas parade.  We met Billy and Stacie and their family there and took Kylie with us.  It was a very nice parade with lots of floats, music, and Santas.

Its Santa! On the firetruck...

12/5 We went over to Billy and Stacie's house for homemade enchiladas today.  Billy made them and they were delicious!

Gentry and our youngest granddaughter, Bailee came down from Garland to see us.  Bailee will turn two this month.  She is just precious.

Getting sugar....

Then, we went over Garrett and Madonna's to help them put up their Christmas decorations.  Madonna had cheese dip, hot sauce and guacamole dip.

I think we need to start walking.......more.   The food today was so good and it has been so long since we have had Mexican food.

Kylie has had a tooth that was loose and needed to be pulled, but could not do it.  So, tonight, after we all finished decorating, Kylie kept trying and kept trying to pull it.   Finally, it came out!  We were all so excited.  We had promised her to take her for ice cream if she would pull it, so we all loaded up and headed to Braum's to celebrate.  She put her tooth in a napkin and took it with her.

When it was time to leave, Garrett and Madonna was looking all around the table we were sitting at.  Evidently, when we cleaned off the table, we threw the napkin away containing the prized tooth.  Mom and dad will have to write a note to the tooth fairy to explain the prized missing tooth.

12/6

It got down to 28 degrees last night.....brrrrr!

12/7

We are slowly marking things off our list that needs to be done.  And, my new camera arrived today.   I have been without a camera for weeks.  The last one I was using just quit.  I am so excited.

12/22 We have been here 3 weeks and have enjoyed our time with our family and friends.  However, the major differences we have discovered are:
  1. Wearing jeans, jackets, and shoes rather than bathing suits and flip flops
  2. Eating fast food rather than cooking our meals
  3. Borrowing our son's car some, rather than using our dinghy or walking.  (We walked around town when we first arrived, but embarrassed our kids).
  4. Being overwhelmed in the grocery stores with the choices and selections rather than limited selections.
  5. Having a full size kitchen and counter space to cook in rather than our small galley.
  6. Sleeping in a square bed rather than our triangle in the v-berth.
  7. Being able to eat ice cream....anytime you want rather than only when you occasionally go into the city 20 miles away.
  8. OK....we may have a problem here.  Need to return to the basics of walking and exercise.  At least, walk to get our ice cream.
  9. We have so enjoyed our time with family and friends.

12/25

We sincerely wish you a very blessed Christmas Day today.

May it be everything you had hoped for and dreamed of.

We enjoyed a very special Christmas Day.....celebrating Jesus' birth with our family.

Trying to stay warm....Brrrr...

Robert and Carmen

Happy Birthday to Carmen

12/27 We are both a little under the weather.  Cold, achy, runny nose, and everything that goes along with it.

We are heading to Oklahoma in the morning to spend some time with Gina and her family.

12/31 We are having fun with our grandkids.  We have learned to play the Wi games and are working on the dance steps.

David and Gina prepared a wonderful birthday meal for me tonight.  It was shrimp alfredo with brussel sprouts and broccoli.

It is also Elijah's (our granddaughter, Kalei's best friend) birthday so we are all celebrating birthdays and the new year together.

We wish you a very Happy New Year and may 2011

be the year all of your dreams come true.

Life is too Short.......Enjoy Every Day.
